The SparkFun OpenPIR is a highly customizable PIR sensor based around the NCS36000 PIR controller. The OpenPIR allows you to set the sensitivity, trigger time and pulse mode of the motion sensor, so you can tailorfit it to your application.

17/8/2012· I don''t know what PIR sensor the MP project used. The Bildr used the SFE one which has an open collector ouput. It needs some pullup resistor attached btw it''s output and the Arduino supply (5V). This apparently was done with an external, seperate R in that project.

Using the PIR sensor is simple: power it up, connect a pullup resistor to the opencollector signal pin, and watch for it to go low. The PIR can sense abrupt changes in scenery as far as 10 feet (~3m) away. Once your microcontroller is sensing movement, it can trigger a buzzer, text message, tweet, or a klaxon.

7/5/2013· The PIR Motion Sensor from SparkFun looked good at first but I was concerned with the problems it seemed to have running at All the other PIR Sensors on eBay seemed to have the same setup with some onboard voltage regulator. Voltage Dropout on these regulators prevent an already regulated source from powering it outofthebox.
